I am halfway through my Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology. I will be done with my coursework by January of 2009, then 6 months of internship, and finally I can begin my PhD. I think that I have virutally narrowed down my doctoral specialization to Educational Psychology so that I can utilize it to instruct at Universities, and eventually become a Dean. For my thesis I will outline the trauma that someone who identifies as gender queer or T experiences with today's mandatory gym and swimming credits to graduate. Obviously a T who is not completely comfortable with that 'title' or 'label' cannot be expected to participate in public showers or displays of ones body via traditional and 'school sanctioned' 'gender appropriate' swimwear.
Outside of being an educator in the field of Psychology, of course I will maintain a private practice catering to LGB, but primarily T individuals. Most likely the majority of my counseling practice will be with those who are Gender Queer and seeking support. This does NOT mean that I will not pursue CAC-R (Certified Addiction Counselor-Reciprocal, meaning that I can use this licensure anywhere), because to those 'in the know' realize that self-medicating and escapism via drugs and alcohol is an overwhelming epidemic within this community.
Soooo, Technically I will be titled as a 'sex therapist' in order to be recognized as a 'gender therapist' with a focus on Education. PhD ED LLC LP
Make sense?

Thanks so much for the support
